Budesonide+Formoterol is used to treat asthma. This medicine helps treat your asthma by relaxing the airways in your lungs.
Use Budesonide+Formoterol exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.
Make sure you know how to use the specific device or machine you have been given. If you have problems or do not understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist to show you how to use it.
Always rinse your mouth after using your inhaler.
Budesonide+Formoterol must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using this medicine even when you feel better. Do not stop using it suddenly as this may worsen your condition.
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your normal dosing schedule.
DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.
If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
Do not use this medicine if you ever had an allergic reaction (rashes, breathlessness, swollen eyes) to Budesonide, Formoterol or lactose (a sugar found in milk).
Inform your doctor if you have the following conditions:
- heart disease e.g. heart rhythm disorder
- high blood pressure
- thyroid or adrenal gland disorder
- lung infection such as tuberculosis
- diabetes
- low level of potassium in your blood
Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
For as long as your child is using this medicine, regular monitoring of height may be needed to check the body’s response to the medicine.
Budesonide+Formeterol may cause any of the following side effects: headache, tremors, palpitations (fast and irregular heartbeat), cough, hoarse voice and irritation in the throat.
This medicine may also cause an infection in your mouth. Rinse your mouth with water after using the medicine to minimise this problem.
Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience any other side effects.
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any of these medicines:
- medicines to treat heart disease or high blood pressure e.g. digoxin, metoprolol, atenolol, propranolol, quinidine, furosemide
- medicines to treat depression e.g. clomipramine, isocarboxacid, phenelzine, nefazodone
- medicines to treat fungal infections e.g. ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole
- antibiotics e.g. erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin
- medicines for cold and allergy e.g. terfenadine
- medicines for HIV infection e.g. ritonavir, nelfinavir
This list does not include all medicines that may interact with this medicine.
Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
Avoid alcohol.
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.
Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
